How did the Carthaginian dominance from the 6th to the 2nd century B.C. affect the Punic settlements of the West?

The expansion of the Phoenicians into the western Mediterranean area caused a range of socio-cultural dynamics. The subproject ‚Colonization? Imperialism? Provincialization? Resources between Conflict and Integration in the Phoenician-Punic West of the first Millennium B.C.’ examines how the use of resources and the formation of resource complexes changed under the signs of Carthaginian dominance. The primary data is collected in ongoing collaborative field studies programs in the Punic centers and in the upstate. As the database for the direct Carthaginian upstate in present-day Tunisia is incomplete, the subproject conducts field research in the region of the river Oued Miliane southwest of Carthage.
