How did people in ancient Palestine do agriculture and did animals play an important role in this?

The analysis of agriculture as a resource (link to: ‚The Land Where Milk and Honey Flow‘) is being complemented to the research of agricultural resource complexes. In addition to the plant species that are examined by archaeobotany, the archaeozoology researches which animals were kept and where. Aim is a total overview of resource cultures of Palestine during Bronze and Iron Age based on agriculture. The connected innovative research approach does not focus on the reigning elite, but on the peasantry, that is way more affected by social and religious identities in ancient Palestine. This is due to the dominance of the peasantry in this area throughout history.

The results of the research of the subproject will finally be incorporated into an ‚Atlas of Agriculture in Ancient Palestine‘, which will continue the ‚Atlas of Agriculture‘.
