What role did resources and resource complexes play in the planning and establishment of Roman colonial cities?

Here it is examined how different types of resources were established, developed and used and which interests played a role in this process. The project focuses on the period of Roman expansion, both temporally and regionally. The colony formations changed the pre-Roman settlement and social system of Italy and its neighbors sustainably.

The subproject explores the different causes of these processes and the roles played by different resources and resource complexes.
